A Vancouver man was charged after the RCMP caught him exceeding the speed limit by over 100km/h near Lake Louise.

Jerry Wong was pulled over in his silver BMW by RCMP conducting regular speed patrols just east of Lake Louise in the midst of what RCMP described as heavy weekend traffic. He was clocked at speeds between 184 and 191 kilometres per hour in an area with a speed limit of 90 km per hour.

Wong was fined $2,300 and had his license suspended for 90 days.

“This is an extremely dangerous speed to be driving. I would ask him why his haste is more important than everyone else on the road,” said judge L.R. Grieve.

“This is borderline criminal what Mr. Wong did. This is disgraceful.”
