Man pleads guilty to Burnaby wife’s murder 0
The husband of a murdered Burnaby woman found stuffed in a suitcase by boaters last year has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Crown spokeswoman Samantha Hulme said 35-year-old Zhongming Mou’s sentencing is expected to extend to Friday in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster.
The body of his wife Lancy Hu was found Aug. 27 last year near the southwest coast of Richmond.
Mou had originally reported his wife’s disappearance months earlier, and said she went missing after he dropped her off at her home. He later changed his story and was eventually charged with first-degree murder. They were in the middle of a marital dispute.
Hu’s parents said the 27-year-old was seeking a divorce prior to her murder, but hadn’t finalized papers.
Hu and Mou had been married since 2003. They have two children together.
