Lower Mainland Mounties nab Thanksgiving speedsters 0
Mounties have locked two cars behind bars after they spotted them zooming through the Cassiar Tunnel in Vancouver on Thanksgiving.
Their drivers, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, were each given $483 speeding tickets and had their licences suspended for 15 days.
Police believe three cars were travelling nearly 70 kilometres an hour above the speed limit, “jockeying for position and passing (the) regular flow of traffic” around 1:40 a.m.
A 2008 Infiniti G37 and a 2009 Honda Accord were seized in the investigation. Mounties did not pursue the third vehicle, a Scion, due to concern for public safety.
The cars were just two among 43 vehicles impounded by RCMP over the Thanksgiving weekend for excessive speeding.
