Shooting at Ikea under investigation
Richmond RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired at the Ikea on Jacombs Road on Tuesday afternoon (Global BC)
A portion of the Ikea parkade in Richmond was locked down by police Tuesday evening following reports of shots being fired.
Police said no one was hurt.
Richmond RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired at the Ikea on Jacombs Road at around 4:30 p.m.
Officers could be spotted after 6 p.m. combing the parking lot, checking beneath cars for evidence.
There was also no property damage, police said.
Liza Ahyng was walking her two young children back from shopping when she was startled by the presence of police tape and flashing sirens.
“(It’s) so scary; we’re about to park in this area ... and then I decided to park on this side (instead),” she said.
“It's so scary with all these kids with you.”
RCMP said in a statement they continue to investigate the cause of the shooting, adding suspects had fled by the time they arrived.
