David Bowie back in London, England exhibition
David Bowie (Handout)
After a period of semi-retirement, David Bowie is back in a big way.
The English rock legend -- who has a new single (Where Are We Now?) and a soon to be released new album (The Next Day) -- will be the subject of a blockbuster spring exhibition at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
Titled David Bowie Is, the March 23-July 28 exhibit will feature more than 300 objects including the singer's Ziggy Stardust bodysuits, photographs, album artwork, film clips, music videos, and personal never-before-seen items such as handwritten set-lists and lyrics, some of Bowie's own sketches, musical scores and diary entries.
The Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel group has partnered with V&A on a hotel-exhibit package. The deal includes one night's accommodation, a pair of tickets to the show with with fast-track entry, and full English breakfast from £160 (about $255) per room per night plus tax. The package is available at Radisson Blu Edwardian's Vanderbilt, Mercer Street and Hampshire hotels. See radissonblu-edwardian.com/davidbowieis.

Bermuda for families
The only thing better for families than a room with a view is two rooms with a view.
Even better is two rooms for the price of one, which Bermuda's Fairmont Southampton is offering in its Family Getaway Package.
Thw deal includes adult accommodation in one room and a free second connecting room for the children. In addition, kids 12 and under eat free from the children's menu while those under 18 pay 50% off the adult prices on the a la carte menu.
While at the resort, parents might enjoy a few rounds on the 18-hole Turtle Hill Golf Club and some pampering at the Willow Stream Spa. The kids can head off to Explorer's Camp, where there are daily activities -- basketball, cricket, croquet, treasure hunts, arts and crafts, beach bonfires and disco -- for the 5 to 13 set. Older children can enjoy excursions to places such as the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo, Maritime Museum and Royal Naval Dockyard, and the Crystal Caves.
The package is restricted to familes with children 18 and under, and is available through March 13 with rates starting at $269 per night plus taxes, tips and resort fee. Contact 1-800-441-1414 or fairmont.com/southampton-bermuda.
An early morning alternative
Staying over at an airport hotel the night before an early flight is one way to ease the fatigue that goes along with a crack of dawn departure.
And many airport hotels also have parking lots where guests can leave their cars for duration of the trip.
The newest is Groupe Germain's Alt Hotel Toronto Pearson, where for the first 99 days of 2013, rooms are available for $99 per night (single or double occupancy until April 9). A package for one night's accommodation and eight days parking in the hotel's economy lot is $169 ($239 for one night plus 15 days parking). And the Alt Hotel is on the airport Link line, which connects to Terminals 1 and 3. See pearson.althotels.ca/en.
