Vancouver has been ranked as the best place in Canada to take a stroll, with the downtown core earning the highest local “walkability” score.

Toronto and Montreal trail behind at second and third, respectively, in the rankings from Seattle-based Walk Score. Cities were scored based on commute times, and access to public transit, shops and services.

Charles Gauthier, executive director of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, attributes downtown’s ranking to its “symbiotic” relationship between neighbouring residents and businesses.
