B.C. may have The Real Housewives of Vancouver, but the top 1% of tax filers in the province still trails much of the rest of Canada.

Statistics Canada data released Monday revealed 29,500 British Columbians brought home $201,400 in total earnings in 2010 — the threshold for entering the top 1%.

The province accounted for 13.1% of Canada’s population, but only 10.7% of the nation’s top earners lived here.

A much larger proportion of top earners lived in oil-rich Alberta, home to 52,200 — or 18.9% — one percenters.

Overall, the top 1% of the country’s tax filers made up 10.6% of Canada’s total income in 2010, down from 12.1% in 2006.
