Mitch Berger ’s Super Bowl ring is just one of the highlights of local parties to choose from this Sunday if you don’t want to watch the big game at home.
The Delta, B.C. native — who keeps the ring he won in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Steelers locked in a safe — said he’s excited to be able to show it off at the Ticket Kitchen and Bar.
“You know, you get to whip the Super Bowl ring out for the day, it’s kind of fun to celebrate it,” Berger said. “(To) know what the whole thing feels like and getting a chance to share that with people from Vancouver at your own restaurant is a bit of a neat thing to be able to do.”
Berger will be joined by his fiancee, Maxim magazine model Bambi Lashell, and CKNW sports radio host Dave Pratt. The event has prizes ranging from cash, a trip and an iPad.
If you’re looking for an official NFL party, the Commodore Ballroom features NFL cheerleaders and players, and a New Orleans-inspired tailgate spread.
If a full-on BBQ is your idea of celebrating the “pigskin” classic, the Super Bowl XLVII Pig Roast at Library Square Public House is for you. Up for grabs in the prize department is a $1,000 Flight Centre gift certificate.
In Kitsilano, the Regal Beagle Bar and Grille is giving away a trip to Las Vegas as part of its Super Bowl festivities — you get an entry with every pint ordered. There’s also a hottest-wing-eating contest.
If it’s screen size that determines where you watch the Super Bowl, the Charles Bar in the Woodward’s Building is your destination. That’s where the game will be beamed from a nine-foot display.
