According to the Times of India, the Hong Kong superstar admitted he was a huge fan of Indian cinema during a Delhi press conference this week that preceded the release of his new film Chinese Zodiac. The event was organized by the India China Economic and Cultural Council and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to help promote good relations between the two global juggernauts.

“I came to India 10 years ago for filming. When I turn on the TV — I saw dancing. I love the music! Through MTV, I see all this dancing and singing going on,” said Chan, a huge fan of film 3 Idiots.

The martial-arts icon turned Hollywood actor feels there is great potential for collaborations between Chinese and Indian filmmakers. “The future India is a wonderful people's market — just like China. When you have a good director, a good script, you can film in India and China. Everybody can understand both cultures.”

Although Chan made his mark in the film industry as an action star, the 59-year-old said he’s eager to test new waters. “I want the world to look at Jackie not as an action hero anymore. I am the actor. I want people to think Jackie is a good actor, who can fight … I want to do different roles in the future. Love story, drama, that's what I'm looking for.”

Although he has expressed interest in Bollywood roles, particularly one that allows him to dance with actress Mallika Sherawat, he does have a few caveats. “The product and script is very important for me. You have to find a good script,” said Chan, adding he likes comedy because it allows him to maintain his role-model status with young fans.

“I can sing! I can dance! I definitely want to do Bollywood. Producer, director ... I am waiting,” said Chan, who let on that while he’s tried Bollywood dancing, he still had trouble with the iconic Indian head wiggle.
