Cockeyed sequel is anything but Despicable 0
Despicable Me became an animation classic three years ago, despite getting robbed of the Oscar nomination it so richly deserved as one of the best animated features. But the $543 million in worldwide box office gave the filmmakers the last laugh and guaranteed a sequel.
Here is it — and it offers tons of despicable fun. Despicable Me 2 is a kids’ cartoon that simultaneously engages any adults who will watch the movie with their youngsters. There is a lot of intense action and cartoon violence, a contemporary echo of the old Looney Tunes shorts. Even the Minions are transformed into maniacal monsters for a time, thanks to a nefarious villain. So you are now forewarned: This movie is a little crazy, and impressionable children might find it a bit too much.
