Homicide cops allege hit-and-run 'deliberate' 0
A Surrey man accused of deliberately killing a pedestrian with his car appeared in court Tuesday.
Christopher Griffith, 31, is facing charges of criminal negligence causing death and driving while his licence was suspended.
“Evidence retrieved thus far by IHIT supports the theory that this was a deliberate act on the part of the driver,” said Sgt. Jennifer Pound in a statement. “With the public’s assistance, IHIT was able to glean enough information to identify the driver of the vehicle.”
Robert Paterson, 40, died Saturday on the way to hospital after being hit near the Royal Canadian Legion at 106 Avenue and 135A Street in Surrey.
