Vancouver Airport Authority says essential employees will still be in place after Friday when its workers will be in strike position.
The unions representing approximately 300 airport workers — including emergency responders, maintenance and administration staff — remain in negotiations with their employer through this week, according to airport authority vice-president Anne Murray.
She said Tuesday that emergency response and maintenance staff are considered essential and would be on shift even if a strike occurs.
“We don’t anticipate any strike-related delays on the weekend,” she said.
The union is fighting to stave off what it claims are “seasonal workers” being brought in by the employer.
