Man arrested after cyclist’s death in Richmond 0
A 64-year-old man is dead after an alleged hit-and-run in Richmond where the vehicle’s licence plate was left behind at the scene.
RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said the victim was fatally struck at around 3 a.m. Monday and residents who’d heard noise from the crash discovered the seriously injured man shortly afterwards.
He was rushed to hospital but later died.
Ashton said police traced the plate number and arrested a 26-year-old man at a Richmond home within 30 minutes. The young man’s Ford Escape has also been seized.
Ashton said collision investigators have yet to determine the circumstances of the collision — as the man was found on the sidewalk.
Police are asking any witnesses to the crash on No. 5 Road, just south of Cambie Street, to come forward.
