Teen slashed at Vancouver high school during nighttime brawl 0
A teen slashed in the neck with a knife and had to undergo emergency surgery after a large brawl at a Vancouver high school Monday night.
Police said on Tuesday the 17-year-old boy is now in stable condition in hospital. A charge of attempted murder was recommended against an unnamed 23-year-old man.
Sgt. Randy Fincham told reporters police were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. at Britannia Secondary School.
He said a motive for the fight hasn’t been determined yet, but that it’s possible the melee involved youth younger than the victim.
“Investigators believe there were 20 people in the area when this slashing took place,” Fincham said.
“We’re looking at it right now to see if there was any connection between the 17-year-old and anybody in the school grounds at the time.”
