Gas attack that sent four to hospital hit wrong target: Richmond cops 0
A “gas” attack that sent four to hospital — including two RCMP officers — in Richmond last week struck the home of someone who was likely a mistaken target, police said.
Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said Mounties believe they know who the intended target was, but that person no longer lives on the block and investigators have yet to speak with the person.
On Sept. 16, police said they were called to a 6400-block Taseko Drive home where two men were suffering from inhaling a mysterious substance thrown into the house.
RCMP arrived and also inhaled the gas — now suspected to be pepper spray fired through a broken window — and two officers were sent to the hospital to get checked out.
“There was information it was someone at another house that was supposed to be targeted,” Ashton said. “But that person does not live there anymore.”
There were no witnesses to the incident. However, police said a car was heard speeding away after the house was sprayed.
