Vancouver firefighters go through a home that has caught fire numerous times in the past year after it was ablaze again early Sunday morning. (CARMINE MARINELLI/24 HOURS)
Fire investigators spent Sunday combing through a gutted home on Rupert Street near 41st Avenue in Vancouver after the abandoned structure was destroyed by fire overnight.
The building had been the location of previous fires, but investigators didn’t say if they believed the most recent blaze was suspicious as the investigation was being conducted.
A spokesman for Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services said the fire had spread to adjacent homes before being brought under control and extinguished.
The spokesman wasn’t immediately aware of the nature of the previous fires at the home, which happened within the last year.
Security fences were erected around the structure when the most recent fire broke out.
It has been boarded up as the investigation continues.
