There will be no charges laid against a Vancouver Police Department officer related to a 2007 shooting death.
Paul Boyd was shot and killed in August of that year on Granville Street near West 16th Avenue after police arrived to attend a call about a man acting erratically and screaming.
A special prosecutor determined VPD Const. Lee Chipperfield will not face charges for the incident.
“After considering all of the available evidence as presented by the investigators, including new video evidence that surfaced in May 2012, the special prosecutor has concluded that there is no substantial likelihood of conviction on a criminal charge,” said a B.C. Criminal Justice Branch press release.
