Homicide team takes over assault case 0

The victim of a brutal assault in New Westminster is “not expected to survive,” according to the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
New Westminster police responded to a call on Dec. 17 and found a man badly injured near 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue around 7:45 p.m. The victim was hospitalized and police have one person in custody.
Police are processing the crime scene and an investigation is underway.
“IHIT has taken conduct of this case in New Westminster due to the serious condition of the victim who is not expected to survive,” Sgt. Bari Emam said in the news release.
