One person died and seven others were sent to hospital after a fire destroyed most of a home in Surrey Thursday.

Surrey firefighters were called out to 8860 - 146A St. at around 3:30 a.m. and arrived to find the two-storey home fully engulfed in flames, said assistant fire chief Brian Woznikoski.

Four people were sent to Surrey Memorial Hospital and three were sent to Royal Columbian Hospital with undetermined injuries, said Woznikoski, adding that the cause of the fire is still being investigated, but isn’t considered suspicious at this time.
