The man who died of stab wounds to his neck in Abbotsford Thursday was a well-known gang member, according to IHIT.

Police identified the murder victim as 31-year-old Matthew Gordon Campbell of Abbotsford.

“Mr. Campbell was known to police for his history relating to gang activity and indications at this point in the investigation suggest this was not a random incident,” said an IHIT news release.

Abbotsford police were called out at 3:45 p.m. to a business in the 30100 block of Automall Drive. The victim stumbled into the business bleeding from the neck. He was airlifted to hospital, but died of his wounds.

The Vancouver Sun has reported that Campbell was connected to the Red Scorpions gang.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the IHIT Tip Line at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
