Mounties chased down a duo of suspected drug runners and say they’ve seized a significant amount of unknown narcotics after being tipped off about a “suspicious” car around the U.S. border.

RCMP Cpl. Robert McDonald said on Wednesday an alert resident tipped them off about the car seen near 0 Avenue and officers managed to stop the vehicle on the Oak Street Bridge as it was about to cross.

“The vehicle was taken down … guns drawn and everything,” he said. “Two individuals were arrested.”

He said there was a large clear bag containing what’s suspected to be narcotics in the back of the car. The suspected drugs are being brought to Ottawa for examination and the two people arrested remain in custody.
