Simon Fraser University announced Thursday it is investing $4.4 million in an observatory for its Burnaby Mountain campus that aims to engage children in science.

When completed in August, the structure will include a 70-cm diameter reflector telescope capable of seeing galaxies far away, and a digital feed for remote access.
