Grapes is sour about P.K. Subban’s goal celebration.
Don Cherry took aim at the Montreal Canadiens defenceman Saturday on Coach’s Corner. At issue was Subban’s jubilant outburst after scoring the overtime game-winner Thursday against the Ottawa Senators.
“I love Subban. I’ve known him since he’s been a kid. I’m the guy that pumped him for Team Canada,” Cherry said. “But, you know, this is one of the reasons they did not want him, because of what he did in Ottawa.
“All he does is pump up the other team. He has to stop that stuff. It was absolutely ridiculous.”
Cherry then offered stern advice to the 24-year-old before he heads to Sochi for the Winter Olympics.
“Don’t give (the opposition) ammunition,” Cherry said. “Subban had better stop that stuff when he (goes to the Olympics).”
