Abbotsford police have charged a 32-year-old man with sexual interference related to child pornography seized on Dec. 6.

Police allege that Andrew Douglas Felling sexually interfered with a youth and the actions were in the course of producing child pornography.

The charges were laid in early January and officers are still investigating.

Const. Ian MacDonald of the Abbotsford Police Department said officers entered a home after a separate investigation into IP addresses and child pornography.

“When we go through the door ... essentially we’re expecting to find images of child sex abuse, we’re not expecting to find live examples,” MacDonald said. “The investigation kind of takes a turn because what we’re presented with when we come across the evidence is this very clear evidence that there was sexual interference going on.”

MacDonald couldn’t elaborate due to legal reasons, but said it doesn’t mean the accused was caught in the act and characterized it as a “real flesh and blood victim.”

He said Felling was not known to police.

Anecdotally, MacDonald said it seems police are finding more people arrested on such charges who were not previously known to authorities.

Felling has also been charged with making-publishing child pornography, accessing child pornography, distributing child pornography and possessing child pornography.
