‘Violent’ man on flight arrested: RCMP

By Michael Mui, 24 Hours Vancouver

Richmond RCMP are recommending a charge of assault after they arrested a man because he allegedly “became violent” on an in-bound international flight.

Police said the pilot of the flight reported at 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning a passenger was acting violently.

The passenger had to be restrained on the flight, which landed three hours later. Mounties arrested him after landing.

The man, who has not been identified, is being held at the Richmond RCMP detachment. He is expected in court on Monday.

Police did not release further details about the incident, but said it doesn’t appear anyone was injured.
