Talk about a bathroom break.
A former CFL player competing in Sochi with the U.S. bobsled squad was trapped inside his athletes’ village bathroom Saturday and forced to smash a hole in the door to get free.
Johnny Quinn’s experience is the latest wacky tale to come from the Olympic lodgings, which have produced stories of stray dogs, broken door handles and bizarre washroom instructions.
“With no phone to call for help, I used my bobsled training to break out,” Quinn tweeted to his 5,000 followers Saturday, including a picture of the door he broke.
Oddly, the door didn’t come off its hinges. Quinn instead just smashed a hole through the middle of it before presumably climbing through.
Quinn, a Pennsylvania native, played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2009. He also had brief stints with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers before joining the U.S. bobsled team in 2010.
