Two held in Vancouver's first homicide of 2014
Two men were arrested Monday following Vancouver's first homicide of 2014 – a deadly stabbing in the heart of downtown.
The 28-year-old victim died at 2 a.m. Monday after being stabbed at the corner of Georgia and Granville three hours earlier late Sunday.
Paramedics and police found the victim unconscious “after receiving reports of a fight,” the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.
“When police arrived, they found an unconscious man on the sidewalk who had suffered a life threatening stab wound,” police said. “He was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery,” but the man succumbed to his injuries.
Tips from witnesses led police to the arrest of the suspects “a short time later.” Major Crimes Section detectives are investigating the death.
