The federal government has given the thumbs down to a mine proposed by Taseko Lake Mines west of Williams Lake, B.C.

A release Wednesday from the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency said “the New Prosperity Mine project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects that cannot be mitigated.”

Late Wednesday British Columbia mining minister Bill Bennett tweeted, “Feds say no to prosperity in BC.”
