A man who sexually assaulted teenagers in the 1970s and 1980s while he was a Vancouver lifeguard and swim coach, has received a two-year conditional sentence.
Abraham Kiewiet, now in his early 70s, pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault in August. His sentence will be followed by a two-year probation period, according to the court.
His conditions include a 10-year firearm prohibition. He’s also banned from being in any private place where someone under 16 is present, and must take counselling as directed, including any sex offender treatment program.
