A pitbull that mauled a little boy is receiving more support online than the four-year-old.

Kevin Vicente, 4, was playing outside a Phoenix, Ariz., home on Feb. 20 when he was attacked by Mickey, a five-year-old pitbull.

Skin was ripped off Kevin's face, and he suffered a broken eye socket, detached tear ducts and a fractured jaw. Mickey was seized by authorities.

Supporters of the dog have organized a candlelight vigil, created a petition to prevent Mickey being euthanized, and hired a lawyer to help their cause. There are more than 54,000 people who have liked the page "Save Mickey" on Facebook.

A fundraising page to help cover Kevin's medical costs has seen 161 people donate more than $8,300, shy of its $10,000 goal.

Mickey supporters say they don't support the dog more than the child, but believe Kevin should have been more closely watched.
