Girl, 6, killed by falling TV
CALGARY — Family are mourning the loss of a six-year-old girl who was killed after a heavy TV fell on top of her in a tragic accident.
Police and Calgary EMS were called to home Wednesday evening after receiving a report of a six-year-old girl who had sustained injuries in her home.
"We had reports that a heavy television had fallen from a certain height and unfortunately hit her or landed on her," said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.
"When we attended, family were doing their best to assist her."
EMS immediately called a second ambulance for additional medical support and made the decision to take her to Rockyview Hospital rather than the Alberta Children's Hospital.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition, but later died in hospital of her injuries.
