Animal welfare officers removed 260 cats from a Philadelphia home where a sign was posted that read, "I'm the crazy cat lady and this is the crazy cat house."
The local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals went to the home in the north end of the city on Wednesday to remove the cats from "unsanitary confinement."
"This is a sad situation involving a woman who wanted to help animals but got in over her head and couldn't provide the care this number of cats requires," Pennsylvania SPCA CEO Jerry Buckley said in a press release.
CBS reported the woman had as many as 300 cats at one time and had been working with the local shelter over the past few weeks.
