Serenity flows through the Shore in North Vancouver

By Chris Campbell, 24 hours

One of the major benefits of living in North Vancouver — aside from the breathtaking scenery — is its proximity to water.

With the community rising upwards from the banks of the Burrard Inlet, there’s a plethora of mountain-fed streams, rivers and creeks to get figuratively lost in. Residents don’t have far to travel to find a trail or park next to one of these tributaries — but if you can find a home that sits on one of them then you’ve really hit the jackpot.

Consider the Shore your winning lottery ticket. Built by Adera, when finished the Shore will be a community of four buildings with 375 units, either one-, two- or three-bedroom suites, spread over the five- and six-storey wood-frame structures.

Located at 238 Fell Ave., just south of Marine Drive, with Mosquito Creek running the entire length of the property — the Shore is so close to the water you could drop in a fishing line from your balcony if you really wanted.

The water doesn’t stop there. The four buildings will surround a central piazza and include bubbling water fountains, as well as plenty of seating and public art installations.

“It’s like a European town square,” said Eric Andreasen, Adera’s vice-president of marketing and sales. “This project’s all about serenity.”

Suite interiors include such design elements as quartz-slab countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms, and in-floor radiant heating. There are also some special green touches in low-flow faucets and shower aerators, and motion-sensor light switches in bathrooms.

Each buyer also receives a one-year membership in the Modo car co-op.

All top-floor homes feature a rooftop lanai, which can be outfitted with an optional hot tub.

Suites at the Shore start at $269,900 and if you purchase now you will receive a free upgrade in kitchen appliances and finishings. Also included is a $1,500 Mountain Equipment Co-op gift certificate to outfit you for those hikes along the nearby Trans Canada Trail.

Residents also share use of the West Coast Club, an indoor lounge and fitness area.

The first building is slated for completion in spring of 2015.
