Suspect sought after Langley house set on fire

By Ben Bulmer, 24 hours Vancouver

The RCMP has issued an arrest warrant in connection with an alleged attempted murder and arson at a home in Langley.

Officers are looking for an estranged husband accused of breaching a no-contact order with his wife.

Police allege a suspect broke into the woman’s house, set fire to it and assaulted her with a weapon.

Officers were called at around 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 19600 block of Wakefield Drive in Langley after a woman and her two children fled their burning home.

The arrest warrant says Andre Harvey Richard is being sought by police.

The victim’s daughter attempted to intervene in the alleged assault and was also struck with a weapon, said RCMP. Both victims are said to be in stable condition while recovering in hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim’s younger son was not injured in the incident, said RCMP.

Richard is awaiting trial for two unrelated counts of assault, according to the courts.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene driving a 2006 Grey Saturn Relay minivan.
