Whitecaps must finish chances: striker

Darren Mattocks got the first goal out of the way last weekend.
The Vancouver Whitecaps striker knew it was coming, so for him, it doesn't change much — confidence-wise or anything else.
"I wasn't worried about it too much," Mattocks said about his first score of the season in a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids last Saturday. "I never question my abilities to score goals.
"Obviously that's your job, but just being part of the team and working for the team, if that's scoring goals or creating chances for your teammates or defending."
Last season, Mattocks only scored three times in 20 appearances, after finishing on seven occasions a year before in his first MLS campaign.
As for the Whitecaps, they are coming off their first defeat of the season, dropping a decision at BC Place after falling down to 10 men in the 77th minute. It's about learning from it as they continue in the month of April.
"Each and every game is a learning process," Mattocks added. "We have to finish our chances. It would have been a totally different story if we went up 2-0."
A big challenge awaits the Whitecaps as they get set to play a home-and-home series with the Los Angeles Galaxy. That starts this Saturday at the StubHub Center in California.
