Son charged in east Vancouver stabbing 0

Vancouver police say the victim of Monday’s homicide in east Vancouver was 63-year-old Yin Nor Hsao and that her son, 33-year-old Ka Chi David Siu, has now been charged with second-degree murder in the death.

Hsao’s two-year-old granddaughter was also stabbed multiple times during the attack and remains in hospital, said Const. Brian Montague, and Siu remains in hospital after being shot by police when he allegedly moved toward them while holding a knife.

Montague said Hsao was taking care of the little girl while her parents were at work when when they were attacked at around 10:30 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and the little girl was taken to hospital.

Montague said the girl’s injuries could be “life-altering.”
