Man dies after DTES stabbing
Vancouver police say a man in his 50s is dead after an apparent stabbing near Oppenheimer Park Tuesday night.
Const. Brian Montague said someone called for an ambulance for the victim, who collapsed on the street in the 300 block of East Cordova in the Downtown Eastside. That person, who hasn’t been identified, was taken to hospital but later died.
No arrests have been made. He said the force is working on a suspect description, but not all witnesses are being co-operative.
“It doesn’t appear random but the motive is unknown,” Montague said.
The death is considered Vancouver’s fourth homicide of 2014.
