A 10-month-old French bulldog named Chloe is being reunited with its owner after being brazenly taken from the owner's tattoo shop.
Police said the woman was captured on surveillance video running from the downtown Vancouver store and into a getaway car last Thursday.
The video was put online, and police began receiving numerous tips about the identity of the alleged thief.
“Early in the investigation, police were hot on the trail of the thief and balanced the delicate task of recovering the dog unharmed,” Sgt. Randy Fincham said in a statement.
Police said the alleged theft likely was the result of a dispute between a tattoo shop employee and the dog’s original owner.
The dog was found roaming a residential neighbourhood in Abbotsford.
Police added that they “are working to retrace Chloe’s steps following her escape from captors.”
