A day-old baby snatched Monday night from a maternity room in a Trois Rivieres, Que., hospital by a woman dressed as a nurse has been found unharmed.

Quebec police issued an Amber Alert after the newborn was taken at about at 7 p.m. from Ville Marie Hospital when the woman entered the hospital room under the pretext of having to weigh the baby, according to TVA.

The woman, dressed in a red nurse's uniform, left 10 minutes later with the baby after wrapping it in a blue blanket.

The abductor took off in a red Toyota Yaris hatchback with a "Baby On Board" sign on the rear window.

Police stopped the woman after she was recognized by citizens and found the baby safe about three hours later and returned the child to the hospital.

A woman is under arrest.
