Police make arrest in suspected homicide of woman, child in eastern Quebec 0

ROUTHIERVILLE, Que. - Quebec provincial police say they have made an arrest after the bodies of a woman and a child were discovered in a stolen car.

Officers found the bodies of a woman, and a child under 10 years old, in a car near Routhierville, Que. around 7 p.m. Monday.

"A suspect was arrested early (Tuesday) afternoon," provincial police posted on Twitter. "He will be met by investigators shortly."

Police are calling the deaths a double homicide.

They say the car had been stolen in the Montreal suburb of Laval, Que.

Both bodies were sent to a forensic laboratory for autopsy, said police.

A mobile command post was set up and a police helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

Dog handlers were also called in to aid the search.

Routhierville is about 680 km northeast of Montreal.
