Animal rights group offers reward after cat injured by trap

 Christopher Pollon

An animal rights group is offering a $1,000 reward after a six-month-old cat was wounded in a ‘leg-hold’ trap on June 11 in Campbell River.

In addition to posting the reward money, the Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing animals is calling on the province to ban the use of such traps. It said they are “inherently cruel, unnecessary and cause undue suffering to domestic animals and non-target species.”

The cat, named Bowser, was removed from the trap and treated by a vet for a non-life-threatening leg wound.
