A Montreal-based company has discovered that job postings for a popular Vancouver restaurant chain, a major software company, and the local health authority resonated the most among those looking for work in the city.
Caroline Song, spokeswoman for job search aggregator neuvoo.ca, said Wednesday data was collected over a month from May to June.
Companies were ranked based on the proportion of people that clicked job ads after seeing the postings online.
Cara, which operates Milestone’s, Swiss Chalet, and other restaurants, ranked first, followed by SAP — a large software company — with Vancouver Coastal Health coming in third.
Song said while the restaurant chain and health authority were expected on the list, the findings suggest interest in the high-tech sector is growing around Vancouver.
“One of the things that surprised us was the presence of the tech companies in the top 10 — you see there’s SAP, they’re a relational database company — and Microsoft (9th),” she said.
“SNC Lavalin (7th) and Seaspan (4th), the engineering ones were a bit surprising because B.C. isn’t a technically an engineering-focused province like Alberta.”
