There are events aplenty for this Canada Day asides from the always spectacular fireworks in Burrard Inlet - and here are just a few highlights. In Vancouver, Canada Place and the nearby Granville Island are the spots to be - expect live entertainment, lots of activities, food and more.

Matthew Good headlines the show in Surrey - where the celebration starts in Cloverdale at 176th Street and 64th Avenue. Vancouver stars Daniel Wesley and Kyprios will also be on scene for a night of music.

Over in Richmond, ships are coming to shore in Steveston - including several from the Royal Canadian Navy - the tall ship HMCS Oriole, two patrol ships - and a century-old schooner called the Aventuress. Public boarding is allowed.

On the North Shore, the Waterfront Park is one of the best places to be. There are lots of activities planned, some live music, and it's just a few blocks away from the North Shore Canada Day parade.

Burnaby's party begins at the city's Village Museum, where visitors can get a taste of Canada nearly 100 years ago.
