A raging wildfire near Lytton in central British Columbia grew to 1,500 hectares Monday as more than 120 firefighters tried to contain the blaze.

Six helicopters and heavy equipment were also brought in to fight the flames.

Meanwhile, the Smith Creek fire near Kelowna that led to the evacuation of more than 2,000 people from the area at its peak is now 60% contained.

The fire has been reduced from 400 hectares to 260.
