A British Columbia-developed application to help improve care and support for people with inherited bleeding and blood cell disorders was launched Wednesday at B.C. Children’s Hospital.

Patients with the disorders need blood product transfusions frequently and that need for treatment is usually assessed at a clinic.

But the web-based electronic application allows them to record their transfusions at home and they can be assessed by a clinic more efficiently.

In turn, the clinic can help prevent any acute episodes due to the disorders.

The app was developed with numerous government agencies, including the Provincial Health Services Authority.
