DIY that bridal shower

By Julia Dilworth, 24 hours Vancouver

Weddings may have to be planned a year in advance, but the bridal shower you can DIY in a weekend. And the personal touches make for a truly memorable celebration for all involved. From the creative genius of Elise Toplass, 24 hours’ promotions coordinator, comes some Pinsperational DIYs she made for her longtime friend (of 25 years), bride-to-be Rachel Nutley. Congratulations Rachel and Jean-Paul!

Sip in style

Anything bridal demands special treatment.

Spray paint artsy, straw-ready Mason jar lids using Rustoleum in Champagne Mist and dress up with specialty tags, lace and colourful straws.

Thoughtful takeaways

A sweet love token for bridal shower guests: ‘love’ lavender sachets.

Sew simple fabric squares leaving one side open for dried lavender. Boost the smell with lavender essential oils.

Finish off by sewing closed and stamping a lovely message or initials. (Mini alphabet set scored at Michaels for $1.50)

Love letters

Set the scene with a hand-painted message on burlap. Make simple stencils and dab on letters using acrylic paint. The burlap pieces are available precut or you can cut them yourself for more savings.

Weave twine through burlap or pin with clothespins. Accessorizing with flower pins is encouraged!
