An injured black bear in Port Coquitlam was shot and killed by a Conservation Officer at Gates Park Friday morning.
Officers arrived at the large wooded park near Coquitlam River last night right after a report an aggressive bear was running around a complex where unsecure was garbage located.
During an encounter with an officer the bear was shot one time before fleeing into the forest.
“The bear charged the officer, and he discharged his firearm and injured the bear,” said Insp. Chris Doyle, of the Conservation Officer Service.
Tracking dogs along with Conservation Officers continued searching for the wounded bear early Friday morning.
The bear was located and shot four times.
