Members of the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are searching for the driver of a car that struck and seriously injured a woman shortly after 4 a.m. Monday.

A pedestrian was hit by a car travelling east on Pacific Boulevard near Abbott Street. The driver failed to remain at the scene, according to police, adding the victim, a 26-year-old woman, suffered a serious head injury and remains in hospital in critical condition.

Police are looking for a dark-coloured Honda Civic with probable front-end damage. Video already obtained by police shows there may have been several witnesses to the incident, including two people standing on the corner of Abbott and Pacific, and someone on rollerblades across the street.

Anyone with information is asked to call 604-717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
