Cop slashed with exacto knife

By Stephanie Chan

West Vancouver Police are recommending a woman be charged after a syringe and an exacto razor knife injured officers during her arrest on suspicion of theft.

On Saturday evening, police were called to a theft-in-progress report on Marine Drive and saw a female suspect running away. The suspect produced a syringe from a purse, yelled that the syringe was “loaded” and stabbed at the officer before fleeing from the officers’ grasp to a nearby restaurant.

The suspect then stabbed and slashed at officers with an exacto razor knife. As police disarmed her, one officer’s knee was scratched in light contact. The officer has been under treatment.

A 30-year-old woman of no fixed address was held in custody pending a first court appearance.
