Vancouver airport has been named as having the highest efficiency in Canada this year, while the Atlanta International Airport is the most efficient in the world, according to the ATRS Global Airport Benchmarking Report conducted by a team of international aviation academics at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business.
The study provides a comprehensive comparison of airport performance, focusing on operating and management efficiency, unit cost competitiveness, as well as airport user charges of 26 airport groups and 200 major airports in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Prof. Tae Oum of the Sauder School said YVR airport has been the top airport in Canada for 10 years.
“YVR has been doing very, very well, since inception of this project in 2002,” Oum said. “YVR, this year is fourth-most efficient in North America, but the top in Canada.”
By using less input to produce the same output, YVR achieves higher productivity and efficiency that relatively charging passengers lower price. YVR airport is followed by Calgary, Edmonton and Victoria International Airport in Canada.
